Wimbledon tips: Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic to remain on course for final clash

Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon - Jul 2023

Planet Sport presents a handful of solid leads to help you build an accumulator from the Wimbledon order of play on Friday, 7 July 2023.

Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are scheduled to be in action on Friday 7 July as they seem on course for another Grand Slam final meeting.
One of the few remaining Great British hopes, Cameron Norrie will test himself against an American who has recently found his feet on grass.
Meanwhile in the women's draw No 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka faces a tricky early match that could be a banana skin.
Here we present a handful of solid leads to help you build an accumulator from the Wimbledon order of play on Friday 7 July 2023.

Wimbledon men's singles: Cameron Norrie vs Christopher Eubanks | Pick: Norrie

Wimbledon men's singles: Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexandre Muller | Pick: Alcaraz

Wimbledon men's singles: Stanislas Wawrinka vs Novak Djokovic | Pick: Djokovic

Wimbledon women's singles: Elina Svitolina vs Sofia Kenin | Pick: Svitolina

Wimbledon women's singles: Ons Jabeur vs Zhuoxuan Bai | Pick: Jabeur

Wimbledon women's singles: Varvara Gracheva vs Aryna Sabalenka | Pick Sabalenka

Wimbledon men's singles: Cameron Norrie vs Christopher Eubanks

Cameron Norrie has every reason to be wary of Christopher Eubanks ahead of a maiden meeting between the two players.
Norrie has a far deeper association with grass than Eubanks but the American has enjoyed breakout success recently.
Still with Norrie carrying the hopes of a nation he has all the motivation to see out a victory and clinch a place in the third round.
Both men played four set openers but Eubanks came into Wimbledon straight off a title run in Mallorca and could start to feel that if this one goes long.

Wimbledon men's singles: Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexandre Muller

Carlos Alcaraz has shown no signs of the severe cramping that ruined his bid for a second Grand Slam title in Paris.
Alcaraz will still want to make quick work of Muller and extend his grass season record to 7-0.

The Spanish world No 1 is favoured to go over in three sets even if Muller has the element of surprise on his side.

Muller will face Alcaraz for the first time in what will be just his second match on grass this season.

Wimbledon men's singles: Stanislas Wawrinka vs Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic Wimbledon 2023
In years gone by this would have been a second week clash with certainty but Stanislas Wawrinka will need to do more than roll back the clock to best Novak Djokovic.
This will be the 27th meeting between these men at the ATP Tour level and their ninth at a Grand Slam.
Wawrinka has bested Djokovic just six times in all but they have never met on grass before.

There is just a two-year age difference between the two men but they appear worlds apart in terms of their level and there is only one winner here.

Wimbledon women's singles: Elina Svitolina vs Sofia Kenin

Elina Svitolina and Sofia Kenin are scheduled for a third round clash that could be one of the highlights of the early rounds.
There has been plenty of talk about both players who are treading the comeback path.
Svitolina has attained quick success on her return to the tour but Kenin has had to grind to find her level.
Kenin has already pulled off one upset but another might be just beyond her reach in the sixth meeting between the players.

Wimbledon women's singles: Ons Jabeur vs Zhuoxuan Bai

Ons Jabeur continues to fly under the radar at this season's Wimbledon and she might be better for that.

She has a seemingly low-key match against China's Zhuoxuan Bai second up and will look to progress with minimum fuss.
Bai will be a threat though not least for having come through qualifying giving her that little extra momentum boost.
However, last season's finalist Jabeur should have too much court craft for the barnstorming 20-year-old.

Wimbledon women's singles: Varvara Gracheva vs Aryna Sabalenka

Former Russian turned French player Varvara Gracheva is in the same boat as Aryna Sabalenka when it comes to returning to Wimbledon after an absence last season.
On current form though they have contrasting fortunes with Sabalenka a real title contender.
This is the first meeting between the players and Gracheva might be shocked when she gets her first taste of Sabalenka's power.
Unless her double fault demons return, Sabalenka should advance in straight sets.
