Dominic Thiem holds the historic edge in a rivalry against Stefanos Tsitsipas across nine past matches but this will be their first meeting on grass.
It will be just the second meeting between the players since Thiem returned from a long-term injury and Tsitsipas won their last meeting in Madrid.
That clash went to three sets and Tsitsipas might not get away with a straight sets win but he should have enough in his bag to get beyond the veteran Austrian.
Thiem may have pushed the Greek on clay but he hasn't won a match on grass since 2018.
Wimbledon men's singles first round: Alejandro Davidovich Fokina vs Arthur Fils
Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is ripe to be upset by young French up-and-comer Arthur Fils.
Davidovich Fokina has lost both the matches he has played on grass this season while Fils has four wins to his name on the surface.
Some of those wins have come in qualifying but he should fancy himself against a player who has a noted preference for clay.
It was on clay that Davidovich Fokina defeated Fils in their previous meeting.
Wimbledon women's singles first round: Shelby Rogers vs Elena Rybakina
All eyes will be on defending champion Elena Rybakina when she takes on Shelby Rogers to start her tournament.
Rybakina has seen her grass swing disrupted by illness and it isn't clear where she will be at to start with.
Shelby Rogers isn't an opponent that would allow even a Grand Slam champion to play at diminished capacity and Rybakina will have to find her level quickly.
Rybakina leads the series between the two by 3-2 heading into their sixth WTA Tour meeting.
Wimbledon women's singles first round: Panna Udvardy vs Aryna Sabalenka
Aryna Sabalenka is expected to steamroll over unheralded Hungarian Panna Udvardy in another huge first round mismatch.
Sabalenka would have to see things go disastrously wrong for her to fluff her lines in this opening match.
The Belarussian has enjoyed the venue in the past and will be among the favourites to go all the way.
Sabalenka eases into the campaign with a kind draw but she still needs to get the job done.
Wimbledon women's singles first round: Maria Sakkari vs Marta Kostyuk
Maria Sakkari has been in decent form of later arresting her slide down the rankings but for Marta Kostyuk this will mean a lot.
Kostyuk will be motivated to secure a big upset win over the Greek as she seeks to match her best performance at Wimbledon and reach the second round.
Kostyuk lucked out at the French Open when she draw Sabalenka as a first round opponent and again faces a seeded player early on.
Sakkari has won both the previous two meetings between the players in straight sets.
