It means quite a bit for any player to make it to the second week of a Grand Slam and a for a handful of players further glory awaits.
On the women's side of the draw there are some very important players in action as both Australian Open finalists Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina face third round tests.
Here we look at six matches and pick a winner to help you put together your Wimbledon accumulator on Saturday.

Wimbledon men's singles: Alexander Zverev vs Matteo Berrettini

Matteo Berrettini owns just one win in five matches against Alexander Zverev but is arguably the better grass court player of the two.
Berrettini missed Wimbledon last term due to coming down with Covid and he is also returning from a long injury layoff with plenty to prove.
Zverev has so far not felt the effects of being involved in the latest starting first round match only playing his opener on Thursday.
According to rankings Zverev should be favourite but Berrettini has threatened to find his best form and the 2021 finalist will be a dangerous prospect.

Wimbledon men's singles: Daniil Medvedev vs Marton Fucsovics

Having made great strides to becoming more at home on clay earlier this term, Medvedev is out to do the same on grass at Wimbledon.
If he wants to improve on the surface this is the kind of tricky match that he has to win.
Medvedev has the tools to play a good grass court game but needs to adjust his mentality which can be a little defensive.
The Russian must figure out when he needs to rush the net to get into the swing of grass.

Wimbledon men's singles: Frances Tiafoe vs Grigor Dimitrov

Frances Tiafoe and Grigor Dimitrov appear to be very evenly matched with the American edging form while the Bulgarian has a big advantage in experience.
Dimitrov has won two of their three meetings but Tiafoe has been one to watch in Grand Slams of late.
Neither man has dropped a set yet, although Tiafoe has needed to win two tiebreakers to keep up the perfect record.
Tiafoe has laready been a finalist on grass this season and covets a place in the last 16 of Wimbledon again this season.

Wimbledon women's singles: Anna Blinkova vs Aryna Sabalenka

Aryna Sabalenka threatened to misfire her way out of Wimbledon in the previous round but might just be shocked into life by that showing.
Sabalenka's serve goes missing in her worst moments and she struggles to avoid double faulting but you just never know when her touch will return,
Sabalenka has won both of the two previous meetings between the two players.
They haven't clashed on the WTA Tour since 2020 though so those previous meetings won't serve as any sort of indicator of how this will run.

Wimbledon women's singles: Katie Boulter vs Elena Rybakina

Katie Boulter is out to keep British hopes alive in the women's draw but she has some task on her hands.
Rybakina is rightly among the favourites to win the trophy while Boulter has already matched her best Wimbledon showing.
Boulter certainly won't lack for motivation and support but she shouldn't get close to matching the defending champion.
This will be the first time the players have met at WTA Tour level.

Wimbledon women's singles: Marta Kostyuk vs Madison Keys

Marta Kostyuk will have her Wimbledon fairytale tested by veteran American Madison Keys.
Keys came into Wimbledon on a grass court winning streak and is one of just three women yet to lose on the surface this season.
Ukraine's Kostyuk is a sentimental favourite with the crowd thanks to her gutsy nature.
However Kostyuk will be hard pressed to match Keys in the first meeting between the WTA Tour professionals.
