Serena Williams gives birth to second child on eve of US Open
Tennis legend Serena Williams welcomed her second child to the world on Tuesday.
This time last year, Williams was preparing to "evolve away from tennis" at the US Open. Now, the 23-time Grand Slam singles champion is a mother of two.
On the first day of the 2023 US Open Qualifying Tournament, Williams' husband, Alexis Ohanian, announced the birth of their second child on social media. Nearly six years after Williams gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian, Jr., the family welcomed its fourth member: Adira River Ohanian.
"I'm grateful to report our house is teaming with love: a happy & healthy newborn girl and happy & healthy mama," he wrote in the caption.
"Thanks to all the amazing medical staff who took care of my wife & our daughter."
While tennis fans often refer to Williams as the GOAT - greatest of all time - her husband called her the "GMOAT" for greatest mother of all time.
Big sister Olympia was clearly excited to meet her baby sister, and Ohanian said that he would never forget the moment he introduced his two girls.
While Williams has moved away from tennis, hopefully Adira will visit the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center one day to see where her mother and aunt Venus Williams made history.
