Day five guide - Selected women's matches

Elena Rybakina (4) vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

Friday, 2 June 2023, Time: TBD
Having dispatched a pair of Czech players without dropping a set Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina will continue her French Open bid when she faces Spain's Sara Sorribes Tormo in one of the feature matches on Friday.

Sorribes Tormo should not be underestimated having accounted for seed-slaying Petra Martic in the previous round.

The Spaniard's mastery of spin gives her a good chance to stay in the contest but she might struggle to deal with Rybakina's raw power and ability to smash winners.
Sorribes Tormo won a three-set battle in the only previous meeting between the players but that was all the way back in 2021 before Rybakina's Grand Slam breakthrough.

Suggested bets

Sara Sorribes Tormo to take first set
Rybakina to win a second set tiebreaker
Rybakina to win two sets to one

Kamilla Rakhimova vs Aryna Sabalenka (2)

Friday, 2 June 2023, Time: 12 pm
Heading into this match 80 ranking places seperate world No 82 Kamilla Rakhimova and No 2 Aryna Sabalenka.
The French Open third round meeting between Sabalenka and Rakhimova will be the first ever clash between these players.
Rakhimova may have a modest ranking but she has notched 20 match wins this season and cannot be written off.
It will take some doing to best Sabalenka though as she chases French Open glory and World No 1 status.

Suggested bets

Sabalenka to win a first set tiebreaker
Rakhimova to win the opening set
Sabalenka taking a three-setter

Elise Mertens (28) vs Jessica Pegula (3)

Friday, 2 June 2023, Time: 10:45 am
Third seed Jessica Pegula faces a big test from experienced Belgian Elise Mertens in the Round of 32 at Roland Garros.

Mertens owns a 2-0 head-to-head lead over Pegula although both of those wins came on hard courts.

Pegula has set herself the target of matching her run to the last eight in 2022 and is now two wins away from achieving that goal.
Former top ten player Mertens is out to return to the elite group with a deep Grand Slam run.

Suggested bets

Pegula to win two sets to one
Mertens to win opening set
Mertens to take opening set 6-4

Peyton Stearns vs Daria Kasatkina (9)

Friday, 2 June 2023, Time: 10 am
After upsetting Jelena Ostapenko in the previous round, Peyton Stearns will have a maiden top ten win in her sights when she takes on Daria Kasatkina in the French Open third round.
Stearns is quickly becoming a crowd favourite at Roland Garros and is likely to receive some really vocal backing.
Kasatkina has been pretty good at blocking out the crowd though and she doesn't want to become a top ten notch for the rising American prospect.
This will be the first meeting between the two players.

Suggested bets

Peyton Stearns to upset the ninth seed
Stearns to win two sets to love
Stearns to take opening set 6-1
