West Ham vs Newcastle tips and predictions: After the Lord Mayor's show for Toon in London

Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek

Planet sport Bet's Robbie Savage is backing West Ham to build on their midweek success by beating Newcastle in the Premier League.

Newcastle’s record in London over the past couple of seasons has been very very good. Both teams absolutely flying.

Newcastle United beating PSG - that atmosphere at St James’ Park was unbelievable.

I was in Freiburg to see West Ham have a terrific performance and beat a very good side. I thought Bowen and Paqueta were absolutely outstanding on the night.

I think both teams will score in this one. Bowen as a centre forward and Paqueta as a 10. Newcastle have so many attacking options.

Both teams to score, but I think West Ham, with a fantastic start to the season, to win it 2-1.

Robbie’s Tip: West Ham 2-1 Newcastle

West Ham vs Newcastle team news

Aaron Cresswell and Ben Johnson are unavailable due to injury, while Michail Antonio faces a lit fitness test.

Danny Ings, Said Benrahma, Emerson Palmieri, Kurt Zouma and Alphonse Areola are all in contention with David Moyes likely to rotate.

Newcastle will be without Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock, Sven Botman and the suspended Anthony Gordon on Sunday.

Callum Wilson and Joelinton will undergo late fitness tests after missing the midweek win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Key stats

- West Ham have won one of their previous eight meetings with Newcastle.
- Jarrod Bowen has scored five goals in seven league matches.
- Callum Wilson has netted 12 times in 13 meetings with West Ham.

Planet Sport’s other bets to consider

Eddie Howe's side will be flying high after beating PSG, but that probably creates a good situation to bet against them, so West Ham look worth a flutter.

Bowen’s form this season makes him a likely goalscorer, but Alexander Isak has five in all competitions and Miguel Almiron is threatening to find form.

Both of these sides are averaging around 4.5 corners per game this season, but no one is conceding more than West Ham, who give up 9.5 per match.

Several of their games have featured 12 or more corners and with the current line set at just 10.5, the bookmakers may have missed a trick there.
