MLS Matchday 19 preview
One match has qualified as a good over 2.5 goals bet, while the remainder are worthy of backing over 1.5 goals.
However, the numbers suggest we could be relying more on the home side to get the goals in some matches, so we've had to get creative.
New York City and
Columbus Crew are creating lots of chances. The hosts have scored 12 in eight home matches and the visitors have allowed 15 in eight on the road. This is an opportunity for NYCFC to get back on track.
At least one side has scored two goals in 70% of their combined home and away matches, with both teams scoring on 12 occasions.
The secret is out with regard to
DC United. They're a very short price to beat
Real Salt Lake this weekend. The price is about right and holds no value.
The fact they've conceded eight in four games shows us the defence has its issues still, but that's fine. They've also scored nearly two goals per game through their last five.
Salt Lake are giving up lots of chances and should have conceded more than they have. Even so, their away games are averaging 2.75 goals.
New England and
Orlando City is the most likely fixture to produce goals. We have this fixture down as 3.58 goals, so a pretty equal chance we see three or four.
There have been six occurrences of a team scoring three goals in New England's last five matches and both teams to score has landed in five of six at home.
Orlando's combined xG for and against is 21. So far this season, their away games have produced 21 goals. There were over 1.5 goals scored in all seven matches.
Nashville against
St Louis and
San Jose against
Portland are similar games in that the home side could have to do more of the leg work if you were to bet on goals.
Both sides are projected to have a better than 55% chance of scoring two goals, but we can't guarantee both the visitors will score.
Finally,
Sporting KC meets
LAFC. LA are yet to play Houston at the time of writing, but they keep underperforming xG by huge amounts and the goals are going to fly in soon.
Sporting have scored 13 and conceded five in their last five home matches. The goals scored defy xG, but clinical KC is becoming a trend you can't ignore.
