Liverpool vs Wolves tips and predictions: Jurgen Klopp to bow out with comfortable victory

One Premier League, one FA Cup, two League Cups, one Champions League, one UEFA Super, a Club World Cup and who can forget the 2022/23 Community Shield. Jurgen Klopp has won the lot at Liverpool and now one of the most successful eras in the club's recent history is coming to an end. 

What could have been a pivotal final day for Liverpool has turned into a damp squib. The Reds are out of the title race after a run of just two wins in seven, but are sitting comfortably in the top four, so the attention firmly turns to Klopp's departure.

Wolves are the final team that Klopp will face at Anfield and after an impressive season they have gone off the boil in the run-in just like their hosts, picking up just five points in their last nine games.

That shouldn't take away from the excellent job that Gary O'Neil has done this season, with the ex-Bournemouth boss leading his side to mid-table, when many were expecting them to be in a relegation dogfight after a tumultous summer that saw star players leave and Julen Lopetegui walk away just six days before their season opener. 

With not much to play for, we could have a variety of scenarios.

We could have a mundane game with both sides thinking about what their cokctail of choice will be on holiday, a thrilling end-to-end game or a Liverpool thrashing to close the tenure of one of their most successful bosses. 

We are opting for the latter, as the Reds are always capable of scoring a few no matter what form they're in.

Liverpool are firmly in 'bogey team' territory for most sides, but Wolves in particular have a poor record against the Reds, losing 14 of their last 15 league meetings.

Eight of the last 15 league editions of the fixture have seen Liverpool win by more than two goals, so with short odds for a home win, an asian handicap could be the way to go. 

Cody Gakpo has found the scoring touch recently, netting in his last two and the Netherlands international will be wanting to head into Euro 2024 in good form, so he's worth a punt in the goalscoring market. 

Despite their good form against Wolves, the Liverpool defence has been as leaky as the Old Trafford roof recently, conceding 13 in their last seven so the visitors will fancy their chances of a goal at Anfield. 

While its not the farewell for Klopp that many expected when he made the decision to leave in January, expect his side to give him a comfortable victory for the final time.
