La Liga final day betting tips
Final day scenarios
Five teams can finish seventh going into the final day and two of those teams, Osasuna and Girona, will play each other.
Osasuna occupy seventh and know that a win guarantees them European football. If they lose, Girona could occupy that spot but would need eighth-place Athletico Bilbao to drop points.
If Osasuna vs Girona finishes a draw or the away side win, then the door is open for Athletic Bilbao. All they need to do is, well, beat Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. It could happen.
Waiting in the wings are Rayo Vallecano, who sit ninth. Andoni Iraola will take charge of his last match when they visit Mallorca, who occupy 12th.
Mallorca are within three points of the top seven themselves but because of how the fixtures fall and the head-to-head standings, they have no chance.
Rayo Vallecano would need Girona to win or draw, Athletic Bilbao to draw or lose and to win their own game in Mallorca to sneak top seven.
The most complicated scenario of all involves Sevilla, the winner of the Europa League. They would need all of the above plus Rayo to slip up against Mallorca while winning away to Real Sociedad.
What happens if Sevilla finish seventh? Well, after all that, nobody qualifies. There's a limit on how many teams can play in Europe and they've already secured Champions League football.
Who will qualify for the Europa Conference League?
The ball is in Osasuna's court. They know a win does the job and no team has won more home games than them outside of the top five.
Girona had matters in their own hands not so long ago. They're currently winless in four and have won just three times on their travels, losing out eight times.
Both clubs play in such an eye-catching manner so we think we're in for a good game on the final day, particularly if results elsewhere apply the pressure.
That said, the hosts have at least won two of their last five. Girona are winless in four and could find it hard to break down a stubborn Osasuna in a fierce atmosphere. Back the hosts.
Rayo are the team most likely to capitalise but that won't be easy. Mallorca have conceded just 12 goals at home this season and have a habit of grinding out results.
Rayo haven't fared well on their travels and although they have the motivation, that could quickly dissipate if results elsewhere don't go their way.
The Palma natives aren't going to lie down and let the final day pass them buy. Their European dream is over, but they could secure a top-half finish. Back them to win or draw.
