Leeds United transfer news: Whites set to sign Joe Rodon, miss out on Oliver Skipp
Leeds United are set to announce their first transfer signing of the summer with Joe Rodon arriving in a deal thought to be worth £10 million from Spurs
Leeds United are likely to announce the permanent sign of Wales international Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
Rodon, 26, made 46 appearances for the Whites last season, culminating in a 1-0 defeat in the Championship play-off final against Southampton at Wembley.
He formed a mean partnership with fellow Welshman Ethan Ampadu in the second half of the season, carrying Leeds on a 15-match unbeaten run.
Their years of experience together showed as United allowed just three goals in 13 matches during an all-conquering run from New Year’s Day until the March international break.
The 6ft 4 centre-back failed to establish himself after a move to Spurs in 2020 and has been scratching around for a permanent home since.
However, he quickly became a fan favourite at Elland Road and news that he turned down advances from Premier League clubs including Leicester and Ipswich will only make him more popular.
Daniel Farke will be keen to hit the ground running this season, after the fallout of relegation in 2023 caused a slow start that potentially cost his side automatic promotion last season.
To that end, the German also made a play to include Oliver Skipp in the set of talks over Archie Gray’s impending transfer, but that looks unlikely at this stage.
United’s strong financial position may allow them to test Daniel Levy’s resolve later in the window as the transfer dominoes continue to fall, but for now, he’s staying put.
Skipp spent the 2020-21 season playing for Daniel Farke during a loan spell, making 45 appearances as the Canaries won promotion.
