Chelsea vs Southampton: Predictions, tips and free bet builder as Blues look to get back to winning ways

Enzo Maresca's Chelsea were being touted as title challengers during the first half of the season, but a drop off in form has them facing an uphill battle to qualify for the Champions League. 

The Blues have won just two of their last 10 league games, losing five in the process and are now among a clutter of teams who are fighting for the European places. 

However, there's one team you want to face when you're out of form and that is bottom side Southampton. The Saints are 13 points adrift of safety and have won just two games all season and are destined to return to the Championship.

In the reverse fixture, Chelsea swept Southampton aside comfortably in a 5-1 victory back in December, but Enzo Marseca's come into this fixture struggling for confidence. 

They have won just two of their last 10 Premier League fixtures, but their opponents Southampton are the resident whipping boys of the Premier League. 

The Saints haven't improved under new manager Ivan Juric and have only picked up nine points across the whole season and have lost 21 of their 26 league matches. 

While Chelsea have dropped down the table in recent weeks, this fixture is just what the doctor ordered and we think they'll win comfortably. 

 

Cole Palmer first goalscorer

He's gone rather quiet lately, but Cole Palmer is still having a decent season on the whole. 

Palmer has scored 14 goals in the Premier League this season but has gone five games without finding the back of the net. 

However, you can't keep a player of Palmer's quality down and we think he'll score the first goal of a comfortable Chelsea win. 

 

First half to have more goals

We think that the Blues will be quick out the blocks in this one, with a keen eye on goal difference as well as points. 

Therefore we think that there'll be more goals in the first half than the second. 

 

Over 3.5 match goals

Saints have the worst defence in the league, conceding 61 goals in 26 games and have shipped seven goals in their last two games. 

Chelsea put five past Southampton at St Mary's and we think there could be a similar outcome here, over 3.5 goals is the way to go.
