Coventry vs Birmingham tips and predictions: Back another shutout as road woes continue for Brum

Mark Robins manager of Coventry City

Coventry City will look to build on their recent good form when they welcome near-neighbours Birmingham City to the Coventry Building Society Arena on Friday night (2000 GMT).

Coventry City have made an indifferent start to the campaign but they remain tough to beat at the Coventry Building Society Arena.

Mark Robins’ side have lost just one of nine on home soil, a run which includes 1-0 wins against Blackburn and Plymouth, but have been left bemoaning too many draws.

Their recent run of three consecutive clean sheets against Millwall (3-0), Plymouth (1-0) and Stoke (0-0) suggest they’re threatening a return to last season’s form.

Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham City are the visitors on Friday night as they look to avoid an eighth consecutive defeat on their travels.

It was a baffling decision to sack John Eustace and appoint Wayne Rooney. The club were six unbeaten at St Andrew's and coming off of back-to-back wins against Huddersfield and West Brom.

Since then, the ex-Manchester United man has overseen one victory, and five defeats and couldn’t get the better of Rotherham at the weekend.

It’s worth noting he did a good job at DC United by leaving them in a far better place than he found them, but 1.06 points per game through 155 games as a manager isn’t good enough.

This has been a cagey fixture where defences have dominated in recent seasons and Cov haven’t conceded against their former ground-share buddies in five of eight.

Nine of the last 11 meetings between the sides have had under 2.5 goals and at least one side has failed to score in six of those matches.
