Bristol City vs Preston North End

Bristol City have been making steady progress in recent seasons with Nigel Pearson tightening up the defence last season and making them tough to beat at home.
They've done well to retain key players, namely emerging talent Alex Scott, and have recruited well in positions that should further solidify things and improve in possession.
Tommy Conway is likely to be the next young talent off the conveyor belt at Ashton Gate this season and could even be a dark horse in the top goalscorer stakes.

Preston is a team we think will regress this season. The squad needs a lot of work, they've looked poor in pre-season and their end-of-season form was disastrous. North End are a big price in the outright winners sports betting markets.

North End lost four of five on their travels, leaking 14 goals, and are trending in a different direction to a Bristol City side who have lost once at home in 2023, a 2-1 defeat to Burnley.

Blackburn Rovers vs West Brom

Blackburn Rovers have lost several key players in recent seasons but despite that, they've been building a footballing identity and controlling games well.
We don't think they'll be anywhere near the play-off push and they could be short of goals, which will allow the opposition to hang around and punish them.
Alex Mowatt and Jayson Molumby will provide the Baggies with a solid base this season as well as a big, experienced backline.
We think they'll start well and grind out good results on the road, much like the first half of last season, and the likes of Jeremy Sarmiento and Josh Maja make them a goal threat.

Plymouth Argyle vs Huddersfield Town

Plymouth Argyle's first game back in the Championship is likely to be a feel-good occasion and we think momentum is enough to carry them past Huddersfield.
The hosts won 22 times at Home Park and found the net at least three times in a third of home matches with Ryan Hardie, Morgan Whittaker and the departed Niall Ennis top scorers.
Visiting Town were revitalised under the tutelage of the experienced Neil Warnock. Colin is a dab hand at staving off relegation, but this is a different kettle of fish.
They'll be expected to progress but we suspect they're in for another relegation dogfight. Their away form early in the season was atrocious and this is a tough first fixture.
