Brighton vs Tottenham tips and predictions: Goals galore in wild Christmas cracker at the AMEX

Nine points separate hosts Brighton from visitors Tottenham in the Premier League table and they meet in differing form on Thursday night.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side are winless in three and have won just two of 12 domestic fixtures. On the other hand, Ange Postecoglou has led his side on a three-match win streak.

Despite their lack of victories since September, the Seagulls started the season well and remain within one win of the top seven.

They’re unbeaten in eight of nine at the AMEX Stadium, but frustrating draws to Burnley, Sheffield United and Fulham have cost them.

Spurs’ lengthy injury list is doing its best to derail their season but wins over Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Everton mean they’re in a confident mood.

 

 

Richarlison has been the star with four in three while Son-Heung Min and Dejan Kulusevski have also been vital.

Micky van de Ven and James Maddison were the lynchpin of their early season success but Tottenham has figured out how to win without them.

Meanwhile, Brighton may be guilty of failing to take chances in key moments, but their current form could also just be a levelling out of their early-season overperformance against expected goals.

In Lehmann’s terms, they’ve spent so long banging in the goals, that they were due to a quieter spell. 

That said, the 2-0 loss at Arsenal was their first blank since February. They’ve scored in 33 of 34 and conceded 17 consecutive games.

Tottenham’s clean sheet against Forest was their first in eight and they too have been prolific, scoring in all 19 games across all competitions.

The styles of these teams are sure to make for a Christmas cracker and while it’s a given they’ll both score, we wouldn’t be surprised to see them both score twice.

Kaoru Mitoma is a doubt for Brighton and will undergo a late fitness test.

Micky van de Ven, Ryan Sessegnon, Cristian Romero, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ivan Perisic, Manor Solomon and James Maddison are unavailable due to injury.

Richarlison will face a late fitness test while Yves Bissouma is still serving a suspension for a red card.
