Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang becomes latest Chelsea player to exit the club as forward joins Marseille
Mauricio Pochettino has continued his Chelsea clear-out with striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completing his move to French Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a Gabonese international who plays for French side Marseille.
The striker started his career at AC Milan which included a number of loan moves before permanently transferring to Saint Etienne. 'Auba' would then transfer to Germany where he would have a rather fruitful spell at Borussia Dortmund before joining Arsenal in 2018.
Despite winning the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2020 and scoring 92 goals in 163 appearance, he fell out with manager Mikel Arteta and left the club by mutal consent in February 2022.
He joined Barcelona where he won La Ligua in the 2022/23 season even though he played for the club for just nine minutes in that season before joining Chelsea.
He had a miserable time in west London, scoring one goal in 15 Premier League appearances for the Blues and was left out of the squad for the Champions League knock-out stages by then boss Graham Potter.
In July 2023, he joined French Ligue 1 side Marseille on a three-year deal. He scored 30 goals in 51 games but only spent one season at the club.
Aubameyang joined newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah on a two-year deal in July 2024.
After a series of loan spells in France with Dijon, Lille, Monaco, and Saint Etienne, AC Milan would sell Aubameyang to his previous loaned club Saint Etienne on a permanent deal.
This is where the striker would start his journey as a prolific goal scorer. In his first season at the French club the striker scored 18 goals in 38 games, as well as assisting 11, aiding his side to comfortable seventh place finish.

He would become an integral part of Saint Etienne and by the end of the 2012/13 campaign, Aubameyang would claim his first piece of silverware as his side won the Coupe de la Liga, beating Stade Rennais 1-0, the striker claiming the assist for the winner.
His efforts in France would gain a lot of attention, especially in Germany, as giants Borussia Dortmund looked to seal a deal with the striker.
Aubameyang would instantly claim glory as he came to assist the fourth goal in a 4-2 thrashing of Bayern Munich in the DFL-Supercup.
His side finished second in the league behind rivals Bayern Munich, as well as facing defeat in the DFB-Pokal, also to the Bavarians. However, further glory was to come.
In the 2014/15 season opening DFL-Supercup, Aubameyang assisted the first and scored the second in a 2-0 victory of Bayern, securing his second Supercup victory. Despite another tremendous start, Aubameyang and Dortmund would face disappointment as BVB finished seventh in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund would improve in the following season, finishing second behind Bayern once more, but in 2016/17 Aubameyang would have his best season yet in a Dortmund shirt.
Two goals in the season opener against Mainz 05 would only be the start of a goal-filled season. The striker would end up scoring 31 goals in 32 Bundesliga games, 40 in all competitions, recording himself as the 2016/17 Bundesliga top goal scorer.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored 31 league goals for Borussia Dortmund in 2016/17, the best single-season tally of his career - Ousmane Dembélé assisted 10 of them.

The Gabonese international elevated his side in the Champions League and especially in the DFB-Pokal, scoring the winning goal in the final to beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1, claiming his third trophy in Germany.
Aubameyang had become a great advocate for goal scoring, becoming one of the many greats to put the ball in the back of the net. His success in Germany would eventually lead to a new adventure, this time in England.
Arsene Wenger's Arsenal signed Aubameyang in the 2018 January transfer window for a, at the time, record transfer fee of £56million.
In 13 games for the Gunners, the striker scored 10 goals, including a debut chip, securing a 5-1 win against Everton.
Unai Emery arrived as the Frenchman's replacement in North London, where 'Auba' would thrive once more.
In his first full season for Arsenal, the striker bagged 22 goals in 36 Premier League games, securing the Premier League Golden Boot. Goals including an outstanding first time strike against Tottenham Hotspur, a skillfully taken volley against Fulham, and a double against Leicester City to secure a 3-1 win announced himself on the English stage.
His goalscoring in the Europa League, especially his breathtaking semi-final hattrick against Valencia, secured the Gunners a place in the final. Emery's Arsenal would go onto lose 4-1 to Chelsea.
Although Aubameyang would usually claim a trophy at this point at a new club, it didn't seem to land for the Gunners.
However, with the departure of Emery was met with the arrival of current Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta who would lead the Gunners to a record 14th FA Cup victory, with the Spaniard certainly having Aubameyang to thank.
After a season of turmoil, as well as the negative effects of COVID-19, Aubameyang had a duty to serve as Arsenal captain, influencing his side to victory.
A brace against Manchester City would secure a return to Wembley to face Chelsea in the FA Cup final. In true Aubameyang fashion, a scoop away from Antonio Rudiger allowed the striker to chip Caballero, bagging another brace, beating the Blues 2-1.
The striker scored 29 goals in all competitions for the Gunners that season, claiming his trophy in North London.
At the start of the 2020/21 season, the Arsenal captain signed a three-year contract extension, and scored 15 goals in 39 appearances, a significant downturn on previous seasons.
But his relationship with the club was soon to turn sour.
In the 2021/22 season, Aubameyang was dropped following a number of misdemeanours, mainly surrounding time-keeping, before being stripped of the armband and having his contract torn up.
He left Arsenal by mutual consent in February, blaming his fraught relationship with manager Mikel Arteta as the primary reason he parted ways with the club he once captained.
After leaving Arsenal Aubameyang joined Spanish giants Barcelona, where he scored 11 goals in 17 La Liga appearances.
However their financial issues meant they needed to ship players out, and he was soon on his way again. But not before playing a match at the start of the season before he left that ensured he picked up a La Liga title medal at the end of the campaign.
Aubameyang joined Chelsea on a two-year contract from Barcelona in September 2022 in a £10million deadline-day deal that saw Marcos Alonso move in the other direction.
But he struggled to settle following the departure of boss Thomas Tuchel and it became increasingly evident that his stay at Stamford Bridge would not be a long one.
He scored one goal in 15 Premier League appearances for the Blues and was left out of the squad for the Champions League knock-out stages by then boss Graham Potter in February.
In July 2023, new boss Mauricio Pochettino continued his Chelsea clear-out with Aubameyang completing a move to French Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Despite signing a three-year deal, he only spent one season at Marseille, scoring 30 goals in 51 games.
Aubameyang joined newly promoted Saudi Pro League side Al Qadsiah on a two-year deal in July 2024.
Aubameyang has represented Gabon throughout his professional career. Despite being born in France, the striker's dad is former Gabon international midfielder Pierre Aubameyang.
Although Aubameyang played for France at youth level, the striker ultimately took his father's nationality.
At the age of 19, Aubameyang made his international debut for Gabon, scoring his first goal in a 2-1 win over Morocco.
Since his debut he has become an important member of the national side, representing Gabon in 2012 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, as well as the London 2012 Olympics.
Aubameyang was born in Laval, France, and is son to former Gabonese international soccer player Pierre Aubameyang.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's net worth is believed to be $30million.
