Victor Boniface happy at Bayer Leverkusen, rules out Premier League move

Nigeria striker Victor Boniface says he has no desire to leave Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen amid reported interest from Premier League clubs Manchester United and West Ham.

Boniface scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 appearances across all competitions as Bayer clinched the Bundesliga title and DFB-Pokal. Unfortunately, Xabi Alonso's men were unable to complete the treble after losing to Atalanta in the Europa League final.

Bayer became the only team in Bundesliga history to go an entire league campaign unbeaten - earning the tag of 'Invincibles'

The 23-year-old made the step up to playing at a higher level with consumnate ease after joining at the beginning of the season from Belgian Pro Jupiler League Union Saint-Gilloise. According to reports Premier League clubs Manchester United and West Ham are those willing to meet the asking price of €70M.

When asked if he would consider leaving the club should it come to making a decision on his future, Boniface replied:

"No, I'm fine with the Bundesliga, as long as I'm winning the trophies there, I have no problem."

Victor Boniface did not participate in the AFCON 2023 tournament with the Super Eagles due to a groin problem that kept him sidelined for three months.

One is inclined to wonder what his numbers would have been were it not for that lengthy absence for Bayer and if he was perhaps the missing link needed by Nigeria to complete the final hurdle at AFCON after their heartbreaking loss to Ivory Coast in the final.
