USA international striker Matthew Hoppe joins Middlesbrough

Matthew Hoppe

USA international striker Matthew Hoppe has joined Middlesbrough from La Liga club Mallorca for a fee believed to be around £2.5 million.

The 21-year-old has joined Boro on a four-year contract, and is the second striker signed by manager Chris Wilder this summer, following the arrival of Marcus Forss from Brentford.
Hoppe started his career with LA Galaxy's Academy before joining Schalke and then heading for Spain. He became the first American to score a hat-trick in the German top division and scored six goals while in the Bundesliga..
Middlesbrough now have two USA internationals at the club following the arrival of goalkeeper Zack Steffen arriving last month on a season-long loan deal from Manchester City.
