Swansea bring in goalkeeper Carl Rushworth from Brighton on loan
England under-21 goalkeeper Carl Rushworth will ply his trade in Wales next season after signing for Swansea on a season-long loan.
Brighton goalkeeper Carl Rushworth has joined Swansea on loan for the 2023-24 season as well as signing a new four-year deal with the Premier League side.
The 22-year-old was a part of the England Under-21 squad as they were crowned European champions this summer after making his debut for the side in June, a 2-0 defeat against Japan.
He becomes Swansea's fifth first-team signing since Michael Duff replaced Russell Martin as manager of the Championship side in June.
He kept 20 clean sheets in 46 games on loan at Lincoln in League One last season, having previously had spells playing for Walsall - where he won the players' player and supporters' young player of the season awards - and Worthing.
His new deal with the Seagulls, whom he joined from Halifax in 2019 aged 18, includes an option for an extra year which would take his stay at the Amex Stadium to 2028.
He is yet to play a first-team game for Roberto De Zerbi's side.
Brighton technical director David Weir said: "Carl has improved year-on-year with loans in non-league, League Two and League One.
"Now he is making another step up which is a really exciting prospect for him - we're looking forward to seeing how he progresses over the next year with Swansea."
