Sergio Busquets worried about Barcelona mindset ahead of El Clasico
Barcelona drew 3-3 with Inter Milan on Wednesday to be hanging on to their Champions League status by a thread and head to the El Clasico against Real Madrid on Sunday not feeling overly confident.
After the Inter match, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez said he was disappointed with his sides second half mistakes at Camp Nou, where they let in three goals and could have lost the match had it not been for goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen's brilliance.
The Catalans captain Sergio Busquets admitted to SPORT, that they had not been up to scratch against Inter, and stated: "It's a disappointment. It was a difficult group but we had to aspire to more after all of the signings that have been made. It is not mathematical but it is very difficult."
Busquets felt Barcelona had struggled after falling behind and being forced to chase the game to grab the draw.
"We were not as effective in the areas and you pay for that in the Champions League. It was a heads or tails and it has gone badly for us in the second half," Busquets added.
"Their first goal gave them a boost and took something out of us and we went trailing behind. It feels like when they score a goal it is chaos."
The 34-year-old midfielder admitted they were lacking confidence ahead of the huge La Liga clash with Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Sunday.
"It's clear that this could affect us ahead of El Clasico. We have to lift ourselves."
Last night's result means Barcelona have only got one win in their last four Champions League matches, while in La Liga it has a deferent story with Barca having only drawn once along with seven victories in eight matches to top the table on goal-difference with Real Madrid.
