Robert Lewandowski: Barcelona almost forgot to defend against Inter
Barcelona are on the verge of a Champions League exit for the second consecutive year following the 3-3 draw with Inter Milan on Wednesday night at Camp Nou.
As things now stand, Barcelona will need to rely on Inter dropping points in their remaining two matches to have any chance of qualifying.
The Catalans played well in the first-half and led 1-0 at half-time thanks to a goal by Ousmane Dembele. But it was a very different second half once Niccolo Barella equalised, Barcelona lost control and conceded again to trail 2-1.
Robert Lewandowski pulled a goal back for Barcelona to make it 2-2 before falling behind again in the 89th minute, but the Polish striker scored again in the 92nd minute for the match to end 3-3.
In an interview with Polish television, Lewandowski said Barcelona had lacked focus on the defensive side of the game enough.
"We had so much desire to score that we forgot to defend.
"We tried to attack with more players so that one of us lost coverage. We scored three goals but we conceded the same. We feel disappointed not to have one," Lewandowski said.
"We lacked cold blood and calm," he added.
On Sunday, Barcelona will be in action in the highly-anticipated La Liga clash with Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and will be hoping to get their defence sorted out for the big match.
The Catalans are yet to confirm if star-defender Jules Kounde has recovered from injury and will be available for selection on Sunday.
Barcelona will definitely be without Memphis Depay, Ronald Araujo, Hector Bellerin and Andreas Christensen, all currently struggling with injuries.
