Report: Bruno Guimaraes has Barcelona clause in his Newcastle contract

Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes reportedly requested a Barcelona clause in his new contract.

Guimaraes was a key player for Eddie Howe's squad in the latter part of the previous season, contributing significantly to their achievement of Champions League qualification.

Recognising the former Lyon playmaker's importance at St. James' Park, the club moved swiftly to secure him under a new contract at the commencement of the current campaign.

The Brazilian international has committed to a new deal that stretches until 2028.

Despite the appearance of his future being settled, Guimaraes reportedly clings to his aspiration of representing Barcelona in the long run.

According to reports from Diario Sport, Guimaraes stipulated the inclusion of a 'Barcelona clause' in his fresh contract, which entails a reduced transfer fee should La Blaugrana come calling.

Presently valued at approximately €85million, the quoted price for Barcelona could potentially range from €65 to €70million, should they identify him as their prospective midfield linchpin.
