Newcastle and Bayern Munich touted as potential destinations for Juventus' forgotten man
Once the star of the Italian national team, Federico Chiesa is now on the verge of leaving Juventus, with German giants Bayern Munich and Eddie Howe's Newcastle potential suitors.
Federico Chiesa was the apple of the Italian media's eye in 2021 after a brilliant Euros, but fast forward three years and Juventus are looking to cash in on the 26-year-old.
According to reports from Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, Juventus say they 'hope for a lunge' from the likes of Newcastle and Bayern.
This is in no small part due to the fact that Chiesa is reportedly happy with seeing out his contract which expires in 2025 and the Old Lady won't want to lose him for nothing.
The price being reported for the Italian is in the region of £20million and that may tempt both teams, however it seems that the Magpies are more likely given that Bayern have a pool of attackers to choose from and have spent big on Michael Olise.
Chiesa can play across the front line and has played most of his games on the right wing, which is the position that needs strengthening the most for the Magpies in the window.
He didn't have the best of seasons last season in the Serie A, but his tally of 12 goal contributions dwarfs that of Miguel Almiron, who only contributed to four of Newcastle's goals.
The only thing that could sway Howe and co away from the Euro 2020 winner is the fact he's left-footed and it appears that the profile of player they're after is a natural right-footer.
However, should the Toon struggle to find a winger and if Chiesa's price continues to drop throughout the window it's not out of the realms of possibility that the Italian could join his compatriot Sandro Tonali on Tyneside.
