Megan Rapinoe has finally broken her silence following her nation's untimely departure from the FIFA Women's World Cup.

USA forward Megan Rapinoe has broken her silence in the aftermath of her nation's untimely departure from the FIFA Women's World Cup being held in Australia and New Zealand.
The four-time champions, who had consistently reached at least the semi-finals in the past eight editions, suffered an unexpected Round of 16 defeat to Sweden.
The downfall was exacerbated by missed penalties from senior figures Rapinoe and Kelley O'Hara during the penalty shootout, resulting in the United States Women's National Soccer Team's premature exit from the tournament. With hopes of a 'three-peat' shattered, as rivals Sweden surged into the quarter-finals.
Addressing the 'shock' elimination, Rapinoe confirmed her anticipated retirement from the national team, aligning with her prior statement about concluding her international career at the season's end.
Taking via Instagram, she shared her thoughts on the beautiful yet sometimes brutal nature of the game, saying, "This game holds beauty even in its harshest moments."
Reflecting on the unique bond of the team, she continued, "This group held extraordinary significance, and I hold immense pride for each and every one of us. As I depart, I am confident that this team is in capable hands, just as it always has been and always will be."
Rapinoe's departure from the national squad comes after a remarkable record of over 200 appearances, encompassing 63 goals and an impressive 73 assists. With two World Cups and a pair of Olympic medals - a gold in 2012 and a bronze in 2020 (2021) - the 38-year-old's legacy is firmly established.
"It has been my privilege to represent our nation alongside countless exceptional women for numerous years," she affirmed, expressing her gratitude. "Thank you, a million times over."
