Former Liverpool man wanted by Napoli as Antonio Conte targets reinforcements
Borussia Dortmund captain and former Liverpool player Emre Can is one of the main transfer targets for Napoli this summer, according to reports.
Can enjoyed a mixed season with BVB as the club reached the Champions League final but finished in a disappointing fifth place in the Bundesliga.
The 30-year-old did enough to warrant a place in the German squad for the European Championships and featured for Julian Nagelsmann’s side in four of the five matches.
One of those appearances came in the quarter-final clash with Spain which ended in a controversial 2-1 defeat.
Can could now be heading to Napoli as the Italian club set their sights on the defensive midfielder.
According to BILD, Napoli unsuccessfully tried to sing the player during the winter transfer window.
The Gli Azzurri are expected to come for the player once more as new boss Antonio Conte looks to rebuild the squad.
Napoli won the Serie A back in 2022/23 under Luciano Spalletti, but their bid to defend the crown crumbled.
The club finished 10th in the league and went through three different managers before turning to Conte at the conclusion of the campaign.
Can would bring plenty of experience into the side having previously played for Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool and Juventus.
The German won Serie A with the Old Lady back in 2018/19 and also lifted the Supercopa Italiana.
