Cups, tickets and shirts: Chelsea fans still have options when it comes to spending cash on the club

Chelsea shop archive 2018

With Chelsea’s official shop having been forced to close and their online store having gone offline, Planet Sport has taken to eBay to see what Blues merchandise fans can still get their hands on.

The UK government imposed sanctions on Roman Abramovich on Thursday, throwing Chelsea FC into turmoil (they conceded a goal to Norwich it was that bad).

Amid the talk of player contracts, European travel and sponsors pulling out there was also the small matter of the club shop closing.
It hit one Malaysian Blues fan particularly hard after he spent £2,000 and travelled 6,500 miles to find he was unable to purchase any club merchandise (presumably he's not heard of internet shopping).

However, for all Chelsea fans, and that one in particular, we have scoured eBay to find merchandise Blues fans can spend their hard-earned cash on until they can get back in the megastore.

Matchday ticket

This sort of thing has always struck me as strange. Why would you want a ticket from a match you didn't go to? Or maybe it was a match you did go to but you lost your ticket?

Either way, to fill the void Chelsea fans may be feeling now they can no longer buy tickets to future games, here's one from their 2013 Europa League clash with Steaua Bucharest.

It'll only set you back £299. But it's not been used, so there's that.

Commemorative plate

Ah, 2000. Pre-Roman times. And what better way to reminisce about Chelsea's FA Cup final win over Aston Villa than with this 20cm commemorative plate featuring the starting XI.

It's got a certificate of authenticity. Yes, it definitely is a plate.

2021/22 shirts

Unable to buy shirts at the club shop, Chelsea fans have taken to eBay to source them. It hasn't resulted in a massive hike in prices just yet but the signs are there. There are still three days to go until this bidding on this shirt ends and there have already been four bids. Four bids! Everyone knows you don't bid on anything on eBay until the very last seconds. It's basically transfer deadline day but without the need for a fax machine.

Incidentally, I've just spotted a listing for a retro fax machine, as if there could be any other type.

Egg cup

Why it took so long for sanctions to be imposed is anybody's guess, the link between Chelsea FC and soldiers was there all along. Too soon? Perhaps.

Full kit

This 2021/22 kids kit is unworn but comes with the name Theo on the back which, short of a shock bid from Theo Walcott, does seem to limit the potential market.

Still there's a bargain to be had if you've yet to name your child.

Celebrity cutouts

And if you want a real bargain, probably worth hanging on a few weeks before purchasing one of these masks.

Not on eBay, but available through Celebrity Cutouts, there is a choice of Abramovich smiling (it definitely had to be spelled out) or Abramovich grey.

A better writer than me might sign off with something about the Chelsea owner and masks slipping, but I'll just end by saying they are currently priced at £3.97.
