Chelsea close to tabling first bid for Brighton's Moises Caicedo
Chelsea are targeting Brighton's Moises Caicedo to bolster their midfield.
Chelsea are reportedly set to make an initial offer to Brighton and Hove Albion in their pursuit of midfielder Moises Caicedo.
The Ecuadorian is Chelsea's primary target for their midfield overhaul this summer, and discussions have already taken place with the player's representatives.
Personal terms are not expected to be a problem, as Caicedo is keen on the move. However, Chelsea have not yet engaged fully with Brighton regarding the terms of a potential deal.
Caicedo expressed his desire to leave Brighton before the start of the new season, and the club are open to letting him go.
However, they are determined to receive a fair price for the 21-year-old, considering recent high transfer fees in the market.
Brighton are holding out for £100m, citing the precedent set by West Ham's record-breaking fee for Declan Rice.
Chelsea view Caicedo as the perfect addition to their midfield, especially with the departure of several key players.
Even if the deal with Caicedo is finalised, Chelsea may still seek additional reinforcements in midfield, with Southampton's Romeo Lavia also being considered.
However, Lavia is attracting interest from other Premier League clubs such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle.
