Bayern Munich sets sights on Napoli's Kim Min-jae for defensive reinforcement

In their quest to strengthen the defence after the departures of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard, Bayern Munich have reportedly turned their attention to Napoli's Kim Min-jae.

Bayern Munich's search for a new centre-back has led them to Napoli's Kim Min-jae, as the German giants aim to bolster their defensive line following the departures of Lucas Hernandez and Benjamin Pavard.
Reports suggest that Bayern's interest in the South Korean international has been confirmed by reputable sources such as Sky Sports and Sport1's Kerry Hau.
The 26-year-old centre-back has reportedly caught the attention of several top clubs, including Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Newcastle United. However, Bayern currently appears to be leading the race for his signature, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
Kim had a standout season in Serie A, playing a pivotal role in Napoli's triumphant campaign that saw them clinch their first league title in 30 years. Known for his strength on the ball and defensive acumen, the South Korean is entering the prime years of his career, making him an enticing prospect for Bayern Munich.
To secure the services of Kim Min-jae, Bayern will need to finalize an agreement with the talented defender and activate his release clause within the first 15 days of July. The reported release clause, set between €50-60 million, ensures that Die Roten will acquire a high-quality centre-back to strengthen their squad.
Ideally, Bayern would prefer to conclude the transfers of Hernandez and Pavard before the start of pre-season, allowing them to have a clearer picture of their squad for the upcoming season. The funds generated from the sale of the French defensive duo can then be swiftly reinvested to reinforce the team.
In the coming weeks, Bayern's defensive options for the next season will become more apparent as they seek to secure the services of Kim and solidify their backline. The club remains determined to address their defensive needs promptly, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges that lie ahead.
