In a move that promised to add depth and dynamism to their midfield, Sevilla FC have finalised the loan deal for Albert Sambi Lokonga from Arsenal.

The Belgian midfielder will spend the upcoming season at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium, with an option to buy set at €12 million, although this is not obligatory.

This agreement marks the culmination of intense negotiations between the two clubs, with Sevilla's sporting director Victor Orta playing a crucial role in accelerating the transfer, according to MARCA.

Lokonga's decision to join Sevilla comes as no surprise. At 24, he is eager to revive his career in a top European league after finding limited opportunities under Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

His previous loan spells have been somewhat underwhelming, and this stint in La Liga offers a promising avenue for him to showcase his talents and regain the form that once made him a sought-after prospect.

Thursday was a particularly eventful for Sevilla. The morning saw the confirmation of Rafa Mir's loan move to Valencia, a deal that had been in the works for some time. Additionally, the club secured the signing of Peque, who will be committing to Sevilla for the next four seasons.

Lokonga's arrival is expected to be followed by further activity, as Sevilla continue to pursue Atletico Madrid's Saul Niguez to further bolster their midfield options.

Víctor Orta's strategy is clear: to provide head coach Xavier García Pimienta with a well-rounded squad ahead of the upcoming training sessions. The objective is to integrate the new signings quickly, ensuring they are ready to contribute from the outset of the season.

Lokonga's journey to Sevilla has been marked by a series of challenges. After showing promise in the Belgian Pro League with Anderlecht, his move to Arsenal was seen as a major step up. However, limited playing time and fierce competition for midfield spots have seen him struggle to make a lasting impact at the Emirates Stadium.

A loan spell at Crystal Palace last season offered some playing time, but it was not enough to cement his place in Arsenal's plans.

By choosing Sevilla, Lokonga will be aiming to rediscover the form that made him one of Belgium's most promising young talents. His technical ability, vision, and versatility make him a valuable asset for Sevilla, who are looking to compete on multiple fronts this season.

Lokonga's ability to play both as a defensive midfielder and in a more advanced role will give Garcia Pimienta valuable tactical flexibility.
