Premier League Darts Night 9 tips and predictions: Luke Littler hat-trick bid to end in heartbreak

Luke Littler

The Premier League jumps over to the continent for Night 9 in Berlin and Luke Littler is on the hunt for a hat-trick on Thursday, April 3.

There appears to be no stopping Luke Littler in the Premier League at the moment after he secured consecutive wins last week in Newcastle.

Littler dispatched the hapless Stephen Bunting in the quarter-final 6-0, and then Rob Cross 6-3 in the semi.

He then blew apart Luke Humphries 6-1 in the final, via three successive double 20 checkouts in the first four legs. The former World Champion looked forlorn as missed doubles cost him big time.

Last week we tipped Gerwyn Price at 9/1 to rain on Littler’s parade in Newcastle, but he fell to Rob Cross in the quarter-finals.

But we are putting it down as our sights were slightly off on a Price tournament win, as he rocked up and claimed the Players Championship 9 on Monday night in Leicester.

But what about the Nuke? He went out in the third round to the 54-year-old Ian White, in a shock result. White went on to reach his first ProTour final in five years.

Littler then went out in the quarter-finals of Players Championship 10 to Scott Williams.

Price went out in the first round to Dylan Slevin, but we’ll brush that one off as Monday night would have taken it out of him.

Price and Littler will meet in the semi-finals in Berlin if the Welshman can avoid defeat against Michael van Gerwen and the World Champ can get past Chris Dobey.

As a 33/1 outsider, Dobey should be an easy hurdle to clear, but van Gerwen for Price is far larger, as he’s lost four of his last five head-to-heads with the Dutchman.

But at 8/1 to win the night we are keeping the faith with Price, as he’s got some winning juice in his blood, but it will be a tussle with van Gerwen so back over 9.5 legs in the match.

Price will take down Littler in the semi-final, as he continues to hold a curse over him. He’s now beaten the World Champion in six consecutive games, five of those happened in front of the TV cameras.

Expect Price to meet Humphries in the final, as the world number one has an easier run in on the night with Cross, Bunting and Aspinall on his side of the draw.
