So, just when will the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers Finland matchups occur? They’ve been scheduled for November 1 and 2 at the Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland, which is sure to be filled to capacity with locals and Americans alike sitting in all of its 13,455 seats.

It’s all a part of the 2024 NHL Global Series, which will also see NHL games played in countries like Czechia and Germany at around the same time.

It’ll mark the first games the Panthers have played outside of the U.S. since 2018, and for the Stars, it’s their first time ever playing in NHL games outside of the country.

The Florida Panthers have actually played in Finland twice before. They did it back in 2009 during a two-game set against the Chicago Blackhawks, and they did it again in 2018 when they played two games against the Winnipeg Jets.

But this trip is going to be extra special for at least one of the Panthers' top players.

Florida Panthers captain Sasha Barkov hails from Finland and, in fact, his hometown is Tampere, where the Florida Panthers vs. Dallas Stars game will be played.

He’s a part-owner of the Finnish professional hockey team Tampereen Tappara, which is a team that he and his father played for at different times. The team plays its home games at Nokia Arena.

The NHL will also be making its second trip in two years to Tampere for regular-season games. Back in 2022, the Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets met for a pair of matchups at Nokia Arena.
