Oliver Oakes named new Alpine team principal
Oliver Oakes has been appointed as the new team principal of Alpine.
The 36-year-old becomes the third British team boss in Formula One, joining Christian Horner of Red Bull and Williams' James Vowles.
Oakes will take on the role after the summer break, with Bruno Famin announcing at the Belgian Grand Prix that he would be stepping down.
Having been a member of Red Bull's young driver programme during his days behind the wheel, Oakes will be the second-youngest team principal in F1 history.
"I am extremely grateful to (chief executive) Luca de Meo and (supervisor) Flavio Briatore for this opportunity to lead BWT Alpine F1 Team back to competitiveness," he said.
"The team has talented people and excellent resources at its core and I am confident that we can accomplish a great deal together during the remainder of this season and the longer term. I look forward to getting started after the summer break."
Alpine have struggled for form this season and sit eighth in the constructors' standings having accrued just 11 points from the opening 14 races.
