F1 news: Alpine will unveil a 'significant' upgrade before the break
Alpine will introduce an important update before the F1 break.
According to Alpine Formula 1 boss Otmar Szafnauer, the Enstone team is preparing a significant upgrade package to be introduced before the summer break.
One notable component will be a new floor that is set to debut at the Spa race.
Szafnauer emphasized the importance of continuing the team's efforts to bring new parts to the track throughout the remaining races.
This strategy aims to regain lost ground in the constructors' championship standings.
Despite a promising performance, including a third-place finish in Monaco, Alpine's performance has declined in the last two races.
However, the introduction of a new front wing at the British Grand Prix showed some positive signs.
During the race at Silverstone, the Alpine cars struggled to compete near the lower end of the top 10.
Unfortunately, Esteban Ocon experienced a hydraulic pump failure, while Pierre Gasly retired due to suspension damage resulting from a collision.
Currently, the team sits in sixth place in the championship standings, trailing behind McLaren.
The team's expectations revolve around optimizing the new front wing and leveraging the introduction of additional parts in the upcoming events, particularly the anticipated floor upgrade that will be unveiled in Belgium.
"Our upgrades have worked this year and there's another significant one coming before the break," said Szafnauer.
"I hope that too will help, because the swing of relative competitiveness does that kind of stuff. So yeah, I'm looking forward to our next one.
"There's an upgrade in Hungary but not that big. Then there's a floor in Spa. So putting all that together, and it's all additive, I think we should go well."
