NASCAR news: Inspired Kurt Busch picks up win in Kansas for Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing
Kurt Busch revealed that having the Jordan Brand logo on the hood inspired him to put on a GOAT-like performance in Kansas.
With 33 laps remaining of the AdventHealth 400, Busch overtook his brother Kyle and race leader Kyle Larson to reclaim the lead, and win his first race of the season.
Busch dominated most of the race, but lost his lead during a pit stop. The former NASCAR champion fell back as far as fourth before regaining his spot at the front of the field.
This was the first victory for Busch as a member of 23XI Racing - a team co-owned by basketball legend Michael Jordan and Cup driver Denny Hamlin.
The 43-year-old led the race for 116 of the 267 laps, but despite this, the event offered plenty of drama as the outcome continued to be in doubt until the final moments.
After bagging is 34th career victory, Busch told FoxSports: "It's all about teamwork. I don't do this alone.
It's gotta be the shoes. 🏁👟

"The way that Toyota's helped us and (Joe Gibbs Racing) and my little brother has been so important just on the family side. Bubba has been a tremendous teammate.
"This is our first win for the number 45 car and with the Jordan Brand on the hood I felt like I had to win like the GOAT, race like the GOAT and I had to beat the Kyles. I beat both of them - the 'Kyle and Kyle show.'
"This No. 45 car is a winner now!"
Busch is a NASCAR veteran and when asked how he feels about working for a new team, he said: "It's the most gratifying to work from the ground up with a brand new car. Everybody at 23XI - this is for us. This is what the hard work is all about."
Kyle Larson ended the race in second, while Kyle Busch rounded off the podium.
Denny Hamlin finished in fourth, while Christopher Bell, who started in pole position, ended the day in fifth.
The action now moves on to Texas for the NASCAR All Star Open and the All-Star Race on May 22.
