George Russell: Knowing why Mercedes are slow gives me hope for 2024
George Russell is confident about Mercedes' future, especially because the F1 team have so many problems to address.
Even though Mercedes occupy second position in the constructors' championship standings, they are on track to miss out on a single race win this season, for the first time since 2011.
Meanwhile, Ferrari have won a race this year, while McLaren have collected seven runners-up finishes.
As Mercedes prepared for the upcoming Las Vegas Grand Prix, Russell admitted that the team have many problems to fix before 2024's season gets underway.
However, the Brit believes it's better to know what the problems are, as it gives the team hope of sorting them out to close the gap to Red Bull.
"We're not sitting here thinking why we're slow," Russell told Sky Sports. "We know why we're slow.
"We have so many issues with this car and have so many problems that we want to solve, so that gives us hope that if we do solve them we can make a big step forward."
