Ford's motorsport boss Mark Rushbrook continues to pour fuel on the flame of rumours that the car company is eyeing a partnership with Red Bull in Formula 1.
In what could become one of the worst-kept secrets in Formula 1, it is looking increasingly likely that Ford will enter F1 through some form of partnership with Red Bull.
Neither side has tried particularly hard to deny the rumours that began in earnest midway through the 2022 season.
The latest in a string of evidence being collected by eager media and fans is the fact that Ford is sending its top influencers and content creators to New York on February 3 - the same day as Red Bull's 2023 season launch in the city.
It is believed that Ford are in advanced talks with Red Bull to put its badge on the team's power units when the new regulations kick in for the 2026 season.
While expertly dodging most questions about the partnership, Rushbrook coyly admit that the appeal of being part of Formula 1 was very difficult to ignore for a company like Ford.
"Formula 1 is strong and growing, both in the United States and worldwide," he told The Express in Cologne.
"They have great races, a great competition and they have managed to reach new target groups with things like Drive to Survive.
"We do not comment on speculation, but this is the case with all series that exist," he stressed.
"It is our responsibility to study and understand them, and then decide whether it makes sense or not."
Of course, Red Bull and and the car brand do have history together in the sport. The energy drinks manufacturer entered Formula 1 in 2004 by purchasing Ford's F1 team.
