Ferrari chairman urges FIA clarity amid Formula 1 rule controversies

The latest involved driver Carlos Sainz Jnr, penalised for exceeding the energy store limit due to car damage in Las Vegas. 

Elkann referred to Red Bull's lenient budget cap penalty and the contentious 2021 championship conclusion. 

Max Verstappen's victory in Abu Dhabi led to race director Michael Masi's dismissal, prompting FIA restructuring, including the creation of the Remote Operations Centre. 

Elkann emphasises the need for consistent rule application to maintain the sport's integrity amidst ongoing debates.

"You don't want things to happen like the 2021 championship, how that ended up," Elkann told the BBC. 

"You don't want to have situations like the ones here in Vegas, where you get penalised 10 places.

"So from the regulatory standpoint in terms of rules and applications and what we have seen with the budget caps, those are areas where you'd like to have more clarity."
