Red Bull boss Christian Horner concerned about maintaining dominance in 2023 Formula 1 season

Red Bull's dominant start to the 2023 Formula 1 season has left team principal Christian Horner apprehensive about maintaining their edge over competitors.

Christian Horner, team principal of Red Bull, has expressed concerns about maintaining the team's current dominance in the 2023 Formula 1 season.
The team has won all three races so far with a significant lead over their rivals. However, as the winners of the 2022 Constructors' Championship, Red Bull has been given less wind tunnel and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) time this year due to penalties for breaching the 2021 budget cap.
Horner fears that the reduced development time could make it "very tough" for Red Bull to continue their winning streak. He said to the F1 site, "When you look at the amount of percentage time less we have compared to some of our rivals, it's significant." Despite this challenge, Horner remains optimistic and is confident that the team will do their best with the resources available to them.
The team boss also acknowledged the "total cultural change" that has occurred in Formula 1 over the past couple of years. He explained that the focus is no longer on developing a car as quickly as possible with whatever budget is available. Instead, teams need to be more efficient, effective, and selective in their development choices. Horner pointed out that crash and accident damage can have a significant impact on a team's potential to develop, adding that "it's going to be interesting to see how it pans out this year."
The next race on the F1 calendar is the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which will be held on 30 April. The race will take place on the Baku City Circuit, known for its tight corners and high-speed straights, making it one of the most challenging and punishing circuits on the F1 calendar.
Red Bull will be looking to maintain their lead and secure another victory at this iconic track.
Horner's concerns about maintaining Red Bull's dominance in the 2023 F1 season are valid given the penalties and cultural changes in the sport. However, the team's winning streak and Horner's confidence in their ability to do their best with the resources available show that Red Bull is still a force to be reckoned with.
As the season progresses, it will be interesting to see how Red Bull and their rivals adapt to the challenges of the new F1 landscape.
