Ralf Schumacher: Nyck de Vries set to lose AlphaTauri seat post-summer break
Former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher says that Nyck de Vries will lose his AlphaTauri seat following the summer break.
Former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher has stated that Nyck de Vries will be ousted from his AlphaTauri seat following the summer hiatus.
De Vries has encountered difficulties in his debut F1 season, failing to secure any points and being consistently overshadowed by his teammate Yuki Tsunoda. The Dutchman has faced public criticism from prominent figures within Red Bull, including Helmut Marko and Christian Horner.
The underwhelming performance of De Vries has sparked rumours that he may be replaced by the likes of Daniel Ricciardo or Red Bull junior Liam Lawson. Schumacher insists that the decision to remove De Vries has already been made.
"The decision has been made, I'm pretty sure of that," Schumacher revealed to Sky Germany.
"It's unfortunate that he probably won't be able to compete in his home race at Zandvoort. [De Vries] will no longer be in the car after the summer break."
F1's four-week summer break commences after the Belgian Grand Prix on 30 July, with the Dutch Grand Prix on 27 August marking the resumption of action. Consequently, if De Vries were to be dropped following Spa, he would miss his home race.
