Oscar Piastri stays true to approach in Formula 1 debut season with McLaren

Oscar Piastri of McLaren 4 Jun 2023

Oscar Piastri, the skilled McLaren driver, remains resolute in his approach as he embarks on the latter part of his inaugural Formula 1 campaign.

McLaren ace Oscar Piastri has underlined his commitment to maintaining an unwavering stance as he navigates through the latter half of his inaugural Formula 1 campaign.
The Australian prodigy remains resolute in his strategy, echoing his earlier approach that withstood the trials of the season's initial phases when McLaren encountered difficulties on the track. It wasn't until a significant enhancement package revitalised the MCL60 that Piastri's racing abilities came to the fore.
An impressive third-place grid position at the British Grand Prix translated to a commendable fourth-place finish in the race, a potential podium obstructed by an ill-timed Safety Car following a pit stop.
Subsequent triumphs in Hungary and Belgium, notably securing second in the Sprint, have validated his potential as a rising star.
Paired alongside McLaren veteran Lando Norris, Piastri has found his rhythm, now firmly ensconced in his McLaren role. In response to queries about adapting his approach mid-season, the rookie emphasised to reporters, "Not significantly, I don't believe so."
He articulated, "I've endeavoured to maintain a consistent approach throughout the year, irrespective of our struggles from the back of the grid to the front. While the allure of competing for podiums is undeniably motivating, my work ethic and methodology remain consistent."
He continued, "I strive to extract the utmost performance from both the car and myself - a principle unaltered whether contending for third or fifteenth place, with the only distinction being the gratification at the finish."
Delving into his approach, Piastri affirmed, "I envisage retaining my stance, albeit with a thoughtful review to discern if refinements are plausible. Broadly, I'm content with my current approach and intend to preserve it."
With Formula 1 now observing a summer hiatus, the anticipation heightens for the Dutch Grand Prix scheduled for 28 August at Circuit Zandvoort.
