McLaren's rise: Lando Norris praises Andrea Stella for transformative impact

Andrea Stella

In a season of highs and lows, McLaren's resurgence in Formula 1 under the guidance of team principal Andrea Stella has left an indelible mark on the paddock.

The journey from a challenging start to finishing fourth in the Constructors' Championship has not gone unnoticed by the team's star driver, Lando Norris.

Stella, who assumed the role of Team Principal at the beginning of the season, inherited a team grappling with performance issues with the MCL60 car. However, as the season unfolded, McLaren's form underwent a dramatic turnaround, culminating in nine podium finishes and a commendable fourth-place finish in the Constructors' Championship.

Norris, in recognizing the collective effort of the McLaren team, reserved special praise for Stella, emphasizing the pivotal role he played in orchestrating the team's success. The British driver acknowledged Stella's impact, likening him to the director of a production, steering the ensemble towards excellence.

"I did an interview the other day, and I just said a big thanks to him," Norris shared with the media. "Andrea is just the director of it all. He's the producer of the set, and everyone else is the cast. But you need everyone to work together very well, and that's what they're doing."

Norris emphasized that Stella's influence extended beyond his role as Team Principal, crediting him for his continued involvement in the day-to-day racing and qualifying activities. The Briton expressed his satisfaction with Stella's leadership, stating, "I couldn't ask for a better team principal. So a big thanks to him."

As the curtain falls on the 2023 F1 season and teams and drivers enjoy a well-deserved break, the focus now shifts to the anticipation of the upcoming 2024 season. Official F1 pre-season testing is set to kick off at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir from February 23-25, offering teams an early glimpse into the potential dynamics of the new season.

In McLaren's camp, the combination of Andrea Stella's strategic leadership and the collaborative efforts of the entire team have set a promising precedent for the challenges and triumphs that lie ahead in the fast-paced world of Formula 1.
