  • McLaren Driver Oscar Piastri'S 'Need For Speed' Extends Beyond The Racetrack

McLaren driver Oscar Piastri's 'need for speed' extends beyond the racetrack

Oscar Piastri of McLaren

McLaren's Oscar Piastri has conquered Formula 1 podiums and claimed a Sprint race victory in his debut season, but the Australian driver's appetite for adrenaline goes beyond the racetrack.

In an exclusive interview with F1.com, Piastri revealed his unique bucket list preferences, emphasizing that the thrill of racing is sufficient for him. However, if he were to choose an extreme activity, he'd opt for skydiving over bungee jumping, though he admitted, "It's not something I'm in a rush to do." He even considered the prospect of experiencing a fighter jet, albeit with a humorous disclaimer: "As long as I don't throw up..."

Piastri shared insights into his off-track aspirations, expressing a desire to meet basketball legends Michael Jordan and LeBron James, with Jordan topping his list. Despite having already met notable figures in the motorsport world, Piastri acknowledged the unparalleled status of Jordan in the sporting realm.

"Meeting Michael Jordan or LeBron James would be very cool. I mean, I have met some very cool people this year already, which has been nice," said Piastri, reflecting on the unique opportunities his F1 journey has presented.

As the captivating 2023 Formula 1 season comes to a close, fans eagerly anticipate the dawn of the 2024 season. The hiatus will allow teams and drivers to recharge before plunging into the official F1 pre-season testing at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.

The 5.412-kilometre track, synonymous with the Bahrain Grand Prix, will set the stage for the intense battle for supremacy among teams on February 23-25. With Piastri's thrilling exploits on and off the track, the 2024 season promises to be an adrenaline-fuelled spectacle for Formula 1 enthusiasts worldwide.
