Lando Norris excited to continue racing against Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton

Lando Norris and Sir Lewis Hamilton celebrate after the British Grand Prix - July 2023

McLaren's young gun, Lando Norris, expressed his delight at the prospect of continuing his on-track battles with the iconic Lewis Hamilton.

The seven-time world champion recently penned a fresh two-year contract extension with Mercedes, solidifying his presence on the grid until at least 2025.

Since his F1 debut in 2019, Norris has engaged in gripping wheel-to-wheel duels with Hamilton. Their rivalry reached a crescendo at the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix when Hamilton, in admiration, exclaimed, "such a great driver Lando," after a thrilling encounter that saw him eventually overtake the McLaren driver.

This fierce competition carried over to the Russian Grand Prix later that season, where Hamilton emerged victorious after a strategic tire change, while Norris valiantly clung to his position.

Reflecting on the news, Norris remarked, "It's great, and it's always been a pleasure to race against him."

He continued, "He is someone I looked up to when I was a little kid, and I still get a chance to race against him now, so I am happy we'll continue to do so for a couple more years."

Former Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas also weighed in on Hamilton's contract renewal, believing that Hamilton "has still got the fire to try and get back up there again."

The excitement is palpable as the Formula 1 calendar gears up for the Singapore Grand Prix, set to unfold on the weekend of September 15-17.

This demanding event at the Marina Bay Circuit will challenge drivers across 5.063 kilometres of bumpy street surface, creating a thrilling spectacle for fans worldwide.
