Ferrari rev up investment in infrastructure for 2024 Formula 1 challenge

Frederic Vasseur

Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur has affirmed the team's commitment to enhancing their infrastructure, despite already possessing state-of-the-art facilities.

As Ferrari aim to close the gap with Red Bull in the 2024 F1 season after slipping to third place in the Constructors' Championship in 2023, Vasseur acknowledges the need for continuous improvement. While Ferrari boast a top-tier facility in Maranello and Fiorano, Vasseur emphasizes the importance of ongoing upgrades to streamline development processes in the perpetual technological arms race of Formula 1.

"The level of infrastructure and the equipment is okay," Vasseur stated, acknowledging the high standard of their existing facilities. However, he underscored the dynamic nature of the sport, expressing the need to consistently refine tools like the simulator and wind-tunnel to stay competitive.

Vasseur elaborated on the perpetual challenge, saying, "It is a no-end story where, as soon as you are fixing something in the simulator, you have a new issue, and it will be like this for the next 30 years, and it is the same scenario for the wind-tunnel." He highlighted the team's focus on improving production capacity, emphasizing the importance of quicker and higher-quality outputs.

In the midst of the off-season break, teams and drivers are gearing up for the upcoming 2024 season. Official F1 pre-season testing is scheduled to take place at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir from February 23-25, marking the beginning of the on-track action leading up to the new season.

As Ferrari intensify their effort to stay at the forefront of Formula 1 technology, the motorsport community eagerly anticipates the impact of these infrastructure investments on the team's performance in the highly competitive 2024 season.
