Fernando Alonso anticipates fierce qualifying battle to maintain Q3 streak at Suzuka
Fernando Alonso is gearing up for a thrilling showdown at the Suzuka Circuit, as he strives to extend his impressive streak of Q3 appearances this Formula 1 season.
The two-time Formula 1 World Champion has been a standout performer in his debut campaign with Aston Martin, consistently making it to the final segment of qualifying.
While Aston Martin's early-season form secured multiple podium finishes, recent races have seen a slight dip in performance. However, Alonso remains optimistic about his prospects as he prepares for the Japanese Grand Prix.
After completing the second practice session in sixth place, Alonso shared his thoughts with the media. "We've just finished our run, so I haven't had a chance to dive into all the data we've gathered today," he remarked. "We'll analyse it, and hopefully, we can be competitive in qualifying."
Alonso's enthusiasm for Suzuka was palpable. "It felt good out there," he said. "There's always a special atmosphere at Suzuka, and Formula 1 truly shines on this circuit. It was pure joy to drive today. Let's see if we're fast as well."
When questioned about his goals for qualifying, Alonso remained focused on his impressive Q3 streak. "Let's see," he replied. "We've made it to Q3 in every race so far this season, and that's the target—to keep that streak alive. It's going to be a tight battle."
The upcoming race at Suzuka is the 17th on the Formula 1 calendar. Suzuka Circuit, a track that has hosted the Japanese Grand Prix since 1987, holds a special place in the hearts of Formula 1 fans and drivers alike. Over the years, this iconic venue has witnessed the coronation of 13 World Champions.
Suzuka's allure lies in its challenging elements, including the famed 'S' Curves, the high-speed 130R corner, the tricky Degner Curve, and the renowned crossover. These features continue to make Suzuka a thrilling and demanding circuit that drivers eagerly anticipate conquering in the upcoming race.
As the anticipation builds for the Japanese Grand Prix, Fernando Alonso's determination to maintain his Q3 streak adds another layer of excitement to what promises to be a captivating race weekend at the Suzuka Circuit.
