Charles Leclerc applauds Frederic Vasseur's impact on Ferrari's F1 revival
Ferrari's resurgence in the 2023 Formula 1 season has been partly attributed to the influence of team principal Frederic Vasseur, as observed by star driver Charles Leclerc.
Vasseur, who joined the Scuderia at the beginning of the year, replacing Matteo Binotto, has played a pivotal role in fostering a new sense of equilibrium within the iconic Italian racing team.
Leclerc, who clinched a spectacular win for Ferrari in Singapore, breaking Red Bull's dominance, shared his insights on Vasseur's leadership with media. "Fred is super flat emotionally, which I think is really good in the position he is in because it gives us that a little bit," Leclerc told the media. This emotional stability has proven to be a crucial asset as Ferrari strive to regain their championship-winning form after over a decade of drought.
The Ferrari team have undergone substantial changes throughout the season, particularly in their approach to car design, shifting towards a concept akin to that of Red Bull. This strategic change allowed them to unlock the answers to their early-season struggles with car pace, providing valuable insights that are expected to shape their 2024 contender.
Leclerc highlighted the significance of these adjustments: "Definitely the understanding that we had in Zandvoort, especially to have that confirmed in Monza with very different characteristics at a very different track.
"That helped us to basically extract the maximum out of the car more consistently, whereas at the beginning of the year, the car was very different from one weekend to the other - so on that, we improved a lot," he added.
As Ferrari gain momentum in the quest for a championship, the United States Grand Prix on October 22 in Austin, Texas, promises an exciting spectacle for Formula 1 fans. The Circuit of the Americas, a 5.5-kilometre track, has become a staple on the F1 calendar as the sport's popularity continues to rise in the United States.
But COTA won't be the sole American venue to host a race this season, as the Miami Grand Prix is set to make its return, while a brand-new event in Las Vegas awaits later in the season. This serves as a testament to the ever-growing fan base and enthusiasm for Formula 1 across the nation.
