Carlos Sainz strategises to surpass Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc in 2024 Formula 1 battle
In the high-stakes world of Formula 1, Ferrari's Carlos Sainz is meticulously planning his moves to outshine teammate Charles Leclerc in the upcoming 2024 season.
Despite narrowly trailing Leclerc in the 2023 Drivers' Championship, Sainz believes strategic precision is key to turning the tables.
Last season witnessed Leclerc's dominance as he outscored Sainz 206 to 200 points, establishing an edge during the transition to ground effect cars. Sainz, however, showcased his prowess with a spectacular victory at the Singapore Grand Prix, the sole triumph for a non-Red Bull driver.
As Ferrari eyes a resurgence in 2024, Sainz acknowledges the need to seize opportune moments against his formidable teammate. Reflecting on their partnership, Sainz expressed to DAZN Spain, "The ability he has on a single lap, the ability he has in the race to come back and gain positions at the start… We make a very good pair."
While aiming to outperform Leclerc, Sainz emphasizes a collective focus on the team's objectives. "We are two drivers who get on very well together. That’s the best thing for the team, to have two drivers pushing each other," he remarked, underlining a healthy competition that prioritizes the team's success.
Amid speculation surrounding Leclerc's extended commitment until 2029, Sainz is also in talks for a two-year extension with Ferrari, setting the stage for an intriguing driver line-up.
As the curtains fall on the riveting 2023 season, anticipation mounts for the 2024 F1 campaign. Teams and drivers will regroup for the official pre-season testing at Bahrain International Circuit, where the 5.412-kilometre track will bear witness to the initial clashes of supremacy on February 23-25.
The motorsport world braces for the showdown between Sainz and Leclerc, adding another layer of excitement to the unfolding drama in the world of Formula 1.
