Carlos Sainz: Red Bull's dominance in Formula 1 not insurmountable

Carlos Sainz of Ferrari

Carlos Sainz remains optimistic about the possibility of rival teams closing in on Red Bull's dominant performance in the ongoing 2023 Formula 1 season.

Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz remains optimistic about his team's chances of catching up to Red Bull's dominance in the 2023 Formula 1 season.
Despite Red Bull's remarkable performance, with Max Verstappen clinching five victories in seven races, Sainz believes it is not an impossible feat for rival teams to close the gap.
Sainz, in an interview with the media, stated, "I don't think it's impossible. I think there's a space on the podium in case the two Red Bulls are dominating. There's still that one space that we're fighting for every weekend with Charles and me, along with Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, and the two Mercedes drivers. It's a constant fight."
Ferrari, determined to challenge Red Bull's supremacy, have introduced their initial set of upgrades during the recent Spanish Grand Prix, drawing inspiration from Red Bull's RB19. Sainz believes that the ongoing battle for the final podium spot will provide opportunities for teams to catch up.
"While Aston has the upper hand and typically presents a strong package on race day, we are committed to enhancing our car's performance and speed," Sainz explained. "We've also managed to give Red Bull a tough time during qualifying at certain circuits."
Acknowledging Red Bull's current superiority, Sainz admitted, "Red Bull is likely to stay ahead for a few more races before someone can truly challenge them. They are performing at an incredibly high level, and credit to them for developing such a formidable car this season."
The upcoming Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal, scheduled for June 16 to 18, promises to provide another thrilling chapter in the battle for supremacy among F1 teams.
