Aston Martin's Mike Krack anticipates crucial test in upcoming Formula 1 races
Aston Martin boss Mike Krack is convinced that the impending succession of Formula 1 races will pose a pivotal trial for the team.
Aston Martin's head honcho, Mike Krack, holds a strong belief that the upcoming string of Formula 1 races will pose a significant litmus test for his team.
With an impressive tally of six podium finishes out of the initial 12 races, securing a commendable third position in the standings, Aston Martin's performance represents a remarkable leap from the lacklustre show they put on during the 2022 season, where they languished near the bottom of the rankings.
Despite the advancements seen in the AMR23 in comparison to its predecessor, the car exhibits a broad spectrum of capabilities. It seems to excel in low-speed corners but grapples with tracks that comprise a mix of corner types.
Krack asserts that the car must possess the capability to deliver a strong performance on any type of track. The forthcoming quartet of races in the Netherlands, Italy, Singapore, and Japan holds pivotal importance.
"To stake a claim in the championship, one must exhibit prowess across the board," Krack conveyed to the press.
"It's inadequate to selectively target specific tracks," he pointed out.
"Zandvoort and Monza present disparate challenges, and subsequently, we face the distinct challenges of Singapore and Japan.
"We must demonstrate exceptional performance on all four upcoming tracks. Our toolkit must accommodate transitions from low drag for enhanced aerodynamic efficiency to high or maximal downforce.
"The car's performance must be consistent across all terrains.
"This forms the fundamental premise, and naturally, we will adjust the wings to meet the precise requisites of each track."
Formula 1 is poised to enter a summer hiatus, with the Dutch Grand Prix scheduled to return on 28 August at Circuit Zandvoort.
