Christian Horner: Red Bull's Max Verstappen is a generational talent
Christian Horner reckons Max Verstappen is simply a cut above the rest of the Formula One drivers.
Team principal Christian Horner has heaped praise on Red Bull star Max Verstappen's performances in F1, describing them as "once in a generation".
At the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, Verstappen's remarkable display began from a sixth-place starting position. By lap 17, he had surged past his teammate Sergio Perez to secure the lead, ultimately clinching victory in the race with remarkable ease.
This victory saw Perez trailing behind by a significant 22-second margin, while Red Bull's closest competitor, Charles Leclerc, found himself trailing by an even more substantial 32 seconds.
The 2023 season has witnessed Red Bull's dominance, with their RB19 car emerging victorious in all 12 races conducted so far.
Yet, Horner emphasised that Verstappen's remarkable supremacy over Perez, coupled with the seemingly effortless manner in which he secured his eighth consecutive race win, signifies a phenomenon that is truly unparalleled in the realm of Formula 1.
"I think there was superiority over everybody at the moment. Generally, it has been outstanding," Horner said.
"And what we're witnessing with Max at the moment is something that you see once in a generation."
He added: "Like all the great drivers, he just has that extra capacity.
"What we're witnessing and seeing with him at the moment is his ability to read the tyre, to read a race, to extract absolutely everything out of it.
"It's great to see. I think he's just at the top of his form at the moment."
