Brad Pitt's F1 movie started filming at the British Grand Prix
The upcoming Brad Pitt Formula 1 movie introduced its fictional team at Silverstone.
The new Brad Pitt Formula 1 movie, yet to be named, introduced its fictional 11th team at the British Grand Prix.
Ahead of the race at Silverstone, a complete garage and pitwall were set up specifically for the APXGP team that Pitt's character drives for.
This marked the first time filming for the Apple movie took place during an F1 event.
The filming included sessions in the pits and paddock to create the illusion of the team competing, along with dedicated on-track sessions for the APXGP car.
The modified F2 chassis, resembling a contemporary F1 car, was developed with the assistance of Mercedes. It features an extended wheelbase and is equipped with additional camera batteries and mounts. F1 released the first official images of the car, showcasing its striking black-and-gold livery.
The film's storyline revolves around Pitt's character, who returns to F1 as an aging veteran with a back-of-the-grid team.
His teammate will be played by Damson Idris. Director Joe Kosinski aims to create an authentic motor racing film reminiscent of classics like Le Mans and Grand Prix, where real races and cars were captured on screen.
While running extra cars during official F1 sessions is not possible due to logistical complexities, CGI technology will be used to create the illusion.
The fictional Apex GP car has been equipped with 15 additional camera positions, capturing footage from the perspective of the movie characters.
Special movie cameras will also be mounted in the regular TV-camera houses on actual F1 cars during races this year, with permission granted for the purpose.
